September arrives

There was something soothing last night about gently pressing the iron on to Little One’s name tags. Her name is printed alongside a small green butterfly. Ten seconds for each small white sock, three pale blue airtex t-shirts, two sharply creased navy pinafores.

This morning I plaited her sunkissed hair into two neat rows. Drinks bottle – check, change of clothes – check, book bag – check. Ready as we’ll ever be.

I left her playing contentedly with her support worker and the toy dinosaurs. I feel so privileged to be able to watch her wings unfurl this year…

  1. Beautiful. I’ll be welcoming in a classful of young children next week, we are busily getting ready and excited about meeting them and getting to know them, it’s a real privilege! She ‘ll have lots of fun, enjoy watching her grow x
